I personally feel Amex is the best card to go with. You must pay the balance in full each month until you earn the privilege for payments. This will teach you not to run balances which is where you will lose real money.

Sites with credit cards can be convenient beacause they present charts for comparison. I have chosen all my credit cards with the help of such sites.

The variety of credit cards is amazing. Before selecting a credit card, ask yourself what do you need credit card for. If you are an active traveller or business man, frequent flier credit cards are right for you, etc. Choose a credit card that satisfies your need and credit score.

I would avoid cards provided by HSBC, based on personal experience, as it took me several months to get HSBC to remove 5 charges for various Indian airlines. It was a card that I almost never used and will never use again. My brother had a problem as well with HSBC, when they credited my account for a payment he made to his card, and it took him almost 1 year to get the late fees and interest removed.
